Abby Collins received the Bundesverdienstkreuz am Bande in the Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies from President Johannes Rau in November 2001. With Stanley Hoffmann and Guido Goldman, she was one of the founders of the Center for European Studies and remained as Associate Director until November 2001. She is currently the Senior Coordinator, conceptualizing and developing the CES Berlin Dialogues and other activities in Berlin and Cambridge, including the John F. Kennedy Fellowships, the Bucerius Fellowships, and the CES Eurotable.



Guido Goldman, Chairman

Guido Goldman is director of the Program for the Study of Germany and Europe at CES and a member of the Kuratorium of the Hertie-School of Governance in Berlin. He served as the founding director of CES for twenty-five years (1979–1994). He is also chairman of the First Spring Corporation in New York, co-chairman of the board of the German Marshall Fund of the United States, chairman and president of the American Foundation for Textile Art, Inc., vice-chairman of the board of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, and a board member of the American Council on Germany.

Sabrina Dax graduated from Brandeis University in 2006 with a BA in European Cultural Studies and English and American Literature. She was a Visiting Student at Harvard University and she holds a Masters Degree in European Literature from Oxford University. She wrote her Masters Thesis on the work of author Emine Sevgi Oezdamar.

Hannes Ebert is a student of political science at the Otto-Suhr-Institute, Free University Berlin; and has spent an academic year at the Graduate Institute of International Affairs in Geneva, Switzerland. He has been working as research assistant at the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) and the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) in Berlin.

Stacy Gilfillan has experience in the marketing and promotions department for the Villiage Voice Media papers in Cleveland, Ohio and Dallas, Texas. She also helped coordinate the efforts of a start up medical charity. She has come to Berlin to immerse herself in Germany's fascinating culture.

Karolina May-Chu has studied German Literature and American Studies at the University of Potsdam, Germany. She wrote her Master's thesis on the Armenian diaspora in the United States and the role of the Armenian Genocide in the diaspora's identity formation. She has worked as program manager for the CES Berlin Dialogues and as event manager for the WZB. Currently she lives in the United States and works as a freelance translator. Her translations include a travel guide for Potsdam as well as a history book dealing with the German-American encounter in Germany in the 1950s.
